My current event was about the nuclear threat opposed by Iran and Pakistan. United States poll states that American citizens are in fear of a nuclear attack from Iran and Pakistan, but the United States government ensures that the real nuclear threat is not on being on American soil; instead on ally countries surrounding the opposed countries. The United States and Isreal are currently concerned of stablizing Pakistan and Iran so that the countries will not go into a corrupted state and use nuclear weapons while avoiding war and other countries to aquire nuclear weapons in case for defense of Iran and Pakistan.

Question: Do you think it is necessary for the United States to be involved with the Middle Easts nuclear threat on allies? Is it supported by the Just War Theory?
I believe that the United States should be involved with the Middle East's nuclear threat on allies. Even if it is not on our soil it is an extremely prevalent threat. The United States needs to help it's allies to ensure returned protection if we are ever under nuclear attack. Also the United States is heavily invested in trade with our allies. If their economy fails because of nuclear attack then we decline as well. I believe that our intentions to defend our allies is defended under the Just war theory. Our overall intention is to help people and I believe that is supported by the philosophical aspect of just war theory. The fact of the matter is that if our enemies drop a nuclear bomb, regardless of where it is we will be negatively affected, therefore we need to at least try to stop a nuclear attack.
ReplyDeleteI agree with her. We should be a part of the middleeaster bomb threats because if we let something like the holocaust happen again by allowing countries to fall and not say a word we can be directed and targeted directly. Thisfollows the just war not entirely. It may not fit every bullet point for just war but it is just in the same way the Korean wars were just fighting communism. Preventive.
ReplyDeleteSo we Gould be involved to keep the whole world safe. World policemen
It is extremely necessary for the
ReplyDeleteUnited States to be involved in the war in the middle east and their nuclear threat on our allies. In war countries are often involved in wars that have nothing to do with them and America has no direct threat of the attracts they must help those who are. You must protect your allies in their wars if you expect them to help you in yours. Yes Americas participation in this war are supported by the Just War theory.
I feel that it is necessary for the United States to be involved with middle eastern countries that have nuclear threats. However I feel that it does not support the just war theory for there are other ways to approach the situations. The United States needs to insure the safety of the country and the safety of the allied countries. Like Chelsea said the economy could be hurt in one place causing a domino effect making everything go down hill.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Crystal, that even though the threat does not pertain to US soil but our allies, we should still get involved. In past wars, having strong allie forces have helped ensure success in wars. To loose an allie means to weaken your own country. To be a true allie we should be involved in a threat like this that is a threat to our allies. If the threat were to be on our soil, I am sure we would want and appreciate our allies coming in and helping. If we plan to jump right into war, then it is not a just war because we should use all of our other resources first to try to resolve the issue.
ReplyDeleteLike my classmates have previously said, I do believe that it is necessary for the U.S. to be involved with the Middle East. Crystal made a good point that it is a threat over there. We have to stop that threat before it gets too out of hand and will just be more trouble for us. Also, we have allies in that area, such as Israel, so we want to help them in their battles. By helping them now, later on if we have some troubles, they might want to help us back. That's what being allies is for; we help them, they help us. Another reason for the U.S. to get involved is that a major supply of our oil comes from that area. So we want to make sure the wrong hands do not gain control of that oil. If our enemies gain control of major oil supplies, they might decide to not sell to the U.S. in order to cripple us. This would leave us weakened for another attack. As for if this involvement is supported by the Just War Theory, I do think it is. The U.S. getting involved with this conflict can be considered justifiable.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that we should be somewhat involved in these threats. You can never tell when a country is aiming at us, and its better to be safe then sorry. But we cant let this interfere with the oil that we are receiving because this will cause gas prices to rise again. Before we do anything drastic we should get a better understanding on their reasoning for having these nuclear weapons stocked up.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with my classmates, the Unifed States should be involved in the threats in the middle east. Like Trevor said we are never sure when we might be a target and being involved could help understand what is happening. Also Jurnee has a good point by saying that in the past having strong allies has helped is in the past, so why not try to keep the strong alliances. So in the end by being involved we could get a better understanding of what is going on and strengthen our alliences with the middle east.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the people above me. The US has some responsibility to get involved in those nuclear conflicts. An ally is supposed to help in times of need, and if we were attacked, we would rely on our allies to help fight back, such as in the 9/11 related war in Afghanistan. Also we could bring the domino theory from Vietnam into play here, because if those countries attack our allies and other countries, it is only a matter of time before they start sending nukes to America.
ReplyDeleteThe United States should be involved in this nuclear threat for many reasons. One of the biggest one is that these countries may in the future have extremists that use them against us. If we stop them now we can have this problem fixed before it escalates. I agree with Kevin because we need to help our allies so that if we are ever in need they help us. I also agree with Matt D because if we let the wrong people control the oil our country could be severely effected. We should respond to these two countries and soon. Yes it is supported by the Just War Theory because we should stop this before they could potentially hurt us.
