Title: White House: Middle class jobs are trickling back
By: Annalyn Censky
http://money.cnn.com/2012/04/26/news/economy/middle-class-jobs/index.htm

In the article that I read it discussed the U.S economy and how more jobs are being created. The American economy lost 4.5 million jobs in President George W. Bush's last year in office. When Obama took office the economy the economy still sunk loosing another 4.3 million jobs. Although  the economy is still bad it is slowly improving, as of March the economy has gained back 3.6 million job My probing question is, do you feel  that the economy is improving?  Is so why? If not why not?

  1. When President Bush's last year of office 4.5 million jobs were lost. When President Obama took over another 4.3 million jobs were lost. That means in total this country has lost 8.8 million jobs. Of that only 3.6 million jobs have been gained back leaving there still -5.2 million jobs that have been lost over the last year of Bush's presidency and Obama's first year. The economy is improving but it is going to take a huge amount of time to get back to the top.

  2. I agree a hundred percent with john that in the last four years between President Bush's last term in office and President Obamas current term in office, 8.8 million jobs have been lost and only 3.6 million have been gained back. The economy is improving, but at slow rate. There still is 5.2 million jobs to recover just from those four years, but it is also important to take into consideration that there are many other United States citizens without jobs and not just the Americans who lost their jobs in the past four years.

  3. I agree with both Greg and John. Because of the job gain in the most recent months, no one can deny that the job market is improving. The rate at which it is improving, however, is up for debate. Many look at the job growth as an indicator as to how the economy is fairing. With that though, comes those who believe that just because all Americans do not have jobs, the economy is in ruins. It is my belief that the economy is much better than it has been since the end of George W. Bush's term. President Obama has done a fair job at jump-starting the economy and providing more and more Americans with job opportunities. To sum, I do believe that the economy is improving at a steady pace under President Obama. The creation of jobs is only growing and with that the wealth of American citizens is growing.

  4. I agree with John, Greg, and Nate. I think that the US economy is improving and has been improving rapidly over the past few months. The increase of jobs in recent months, more and more people have been employed, signifying a good change in the economy. Although many have regained their jobs, we still have millions more citizens to employ to get back to where we were pre-Bush. I believe after enough time, we can return the economy to a state of prosperity. Overall, I feel that it will take a lot of time and effort to re-create the missing jobs, but the economy will return to normal.

  5. I agree with what everyone else said. The American Economy has been improving since Obama took office. Although jobs were lost, there were also many gained. When President Bush was in office, there was more losing jobs rather than them being created. I don't think it is enough jobs to say that our economy is in good shape though. There is still a really high unemployment rate and many people living below the poverty line. I really like what John pointed out, that there are still 5.2 million jobs to get back since Bush took office. Overall, our economy has been improving since Obama took office, but not enough to get out of the huge crisis we were previously in. It is going to take many more years of a great economy to get us to where we were before.

  6. I agree with all of the statements made before me. The economy has definitely been improving, but as money others have already stated, we can not yet say it is at its best. The biggest reason for our economy on the rise is the recent increase of jobs. But, that is not to say that it will stay like this for long, because the U.S. saw a quick decrease of 4.3 million jobs when Obama took office. That being said, the fact that already we have gained 3.6 million back, shows that Obama is helping improve our economy in gaining jobs back. I agree with David, in hopes that given enough time, our economy will someday soon be at its full potential.

  7. I agree with my classmates above. Steps toward building the economy back up have been taken, but it is going to take a long time in order to get our nation back to what it was before President Bush's term in office. I think that our economy is definitely heading in the right direction for our economy, but like my classmates above have said, we are trying to compensate for more than 5.2 million jobs. In my prediction, it is going to take years to build our economy up again.

  8. I agree with all of my classmates above. The economy is improving when it comes to jobs. Although there is still 5.2 million people without jobs, there have been 3.6 million jobs gained. It will take a long time to get the percentage of unemployed down, this is definately a good start. Hopefully it will continue to improve over the next few years.

  9. I agree with the opinions of the people above me. I do feel that the economy is improving. It's not improving by much, but is still getting better. Although there has been an increase in the number of jobs, we still have lost many more jobs in the past. Like John said, we still have a net loss of 5.2 million jobs since the Bush presidency. It will take a while to regain those jobs. It's a good thing that at least we are seeing an increase in jobs, rather than a decrease. So we have gone through the worst and are now on the upside. It will take time, but the job rate can get better. I don't believe that the economy will get any more worse than it already has. It has already been at its worst point, so it can only get better from then on. It is definitely possible for the economy to get back to the shape it was.

  10. I agree that the economy is improving but I think we can't predict and say that it is going to continue to improve. Things are changing everyday and employmey rates are changing each month. Based off statistics we can't really say Obama is doing a great deal better than Bush. He still lost 4 million jobs. The only difference is the job gain of 3 million jobs. And with elections coming up who knows what the next president will do To the economy. As for now, we can only say 3 million jobs were made

  11. I agree with all of my classmates aboveI agree with all of the classmates above. The economy is definitely improving in regards to jobs. Even though there is an unfortunate 5.2 million people that are unemployed, the 3.6 million jobs gained is a major improvement. As Laura said, it will take a long time to get the percentage of unemployed people to come down; this 3.6 million is a very good start. At this rate, over the next couple years it should continue to improve.

  12. I somewhat agree with what my classmates have said above because I do think that the economy has improved a little, but there is still so far to go and there is no room for the government to get cocky about the work that they have done so far. All too often when the government “fixes” or “improves” something, they just pass a law and then leave the problem alone, or they work really hard on the problem for a short period of time and then sit back and watch it. I agree with my classmates that the economy has improved so far, but I think that if the government takes their usual approach and sits back to let the rest of the economy fix itself it will just go right downhill again. Another reason that I don’t 100% agree with my classmates because I don’t think that just the unemployment rate is an accurate indicator of the entire economy. For example, a man could be given an extremely low paying job and this will increase the unemployment rate, yet he will still be living in poverty.

  13. I agree with everyone above, the economy is getting better. Its not back to where it used to be and I think it will be a while before it is, but 3.6 million jobs is a big gain. Yes, there is still 5.2 million jobs that have been lost overall but just the fact that jobs are coming back shows the economy is getting better. Jobs will continue to be created and in a few years the economy will be back to where it was as long as we have good leadership in the president to guide us though. I think the economy is definitely improving as these jobs are created because more people have money and more people are spending that money giving businesses more money and creating more jobs that the businesses can afford to pay for creating a cycle of the economy improving.

  14. I think it is pretty clear that the economy is getting better if the statistics show that the economy is getting better. If the job rate was going down for a really long time and now it is going up, i would say that the economy is improving. I agree with Bobby when he said that there is still 5.2 million jobs that have been lost, but just the recent improvement is good news and is a good sign for the economy.

  15. Just like the other students about me I believe this economy is improving. when you look at our jobs system in the past we see that it does have a decrease in jobs then a good increase which is what I predict is what will happen. This idea is being played out as we speak so yes I believe that we will grow as long as we continue to work towards that goal of every American having a job.

  17. I believe that the economy is on its way back up. Although we do still have a very large unemployment rate it is getting better. As these jobs are being created it is taking more and more people off the unemployment list. I know that the economy will never be perfect because some people have different circumstances and some people simple would rather not work and collect unemployment.

  18. I think that the economy is slowly improving, I agree with Trevor. We do still have a very large unemployment rate but, it is now a lesser number than it was before. In the next coming years, I believe that the economy will continue to improve greatly and the millions of people still unemployed, or most of them, will receive work. I have noticed that things that were once rather expensive at the beginning of the recession, now have been regulated back to the prices they used to be. To me, this is another proof that the economy is improving. It has been said that the only way to fuel the economy, is to put money in it, I think this very true. People are spending money again which has improved the economy immensely.

  19. I don't really think the economy is improving because although there are more jobs recently, there are also more people. Therefore there will need to be an increase of even more jobs in order to create a better economy where less people are unemployed. Many people have lost their jobs over the years and the population has grown as well. It is still necessary for most of the population to conserve as much money as possible because so much of their paychecks are being taken out for taxes, and what they do spend their money on is extremely expensive. Overall, the statistics do show that the economy has improved job-wise, as everyone above said, but I do think we need to factor in how much the population has grown and how expensive things are.
