This article was about the current running for president. The author believes that if Sarah Palin was in this election then she would have a fighting chance. Sarah Palin was said to know that faith should have a limited role in politics and that she would attract low-income voters, women and younger voters. Most of Romney's votes were from mid-old age males who were comfortable in their finances.
"Polls suggest that many voters agree with Romney's approach to the economy but think he lacks empathy for the struggles facing the middle-class. Were she in the race, you can bet your bottom dollar that Palin wouldn't score so low on compassion and authenticity." - Timothy Stanley, author of article
Romney is an American business man and politician and is said to be a money elitism which means he believes the country should be run by a group of people with a decent amount of money. Santorum is an American Republican politician and has made gaffes, or social mistakes. The article states that Palin has the reputation necessary to break out of the Republican Party's demographic prison.
What do you think? Should Sarah Palin have run for president? Why or why not?
I think Sarah Palin should have run for president because she would attract low-income voters. Typically, I think younger people are more low-income which means if Sarah Palin ran for president, it would encourage younger Americans to vote. Also, she is a woman so I think it would be interesting to see if she would win the presidential election or not. Also like the article said it would make women want to vote as well because of the fact that Sarah Palin is a woman. Therefore, I think she should have run for president.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that Sarah Palin should have ran for president strictly for what society thinks of her character after the last election. I feel that there would be overwhelming amounts of hate and back lash towards her and the chance that she has of being elected would be crushed very quickly. The people of our country tend to] not forget political mishaps very quickly so I do not believe that she would have much of a chance.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it really matters if she ran or not because in my opinion i don't think she would be elected. Like Evan said, she doesn't have the best reputation so it might not be the best decision to run. But some could argue that she would attract young voters and voters of a low income. In my opinion, i don't think Sarah Palin should have run for president, but i think there are valid arguments to say that she should have ran.
ReplyDeleteI agree with both Evan and Alex. I think there are very strong reasons Sarah Palin should have ran, but also very strong reasons why she should not run. As Alex said, she would most likely attract low-income people, which typically would be younger people. It would be very beneficial to have her as our president in my opinion because I definitely think she has amazing ideas and I respect the way she carries herself.
ReplyDeleteI can see why Evan doesn't think that she should be president. She is a women, and our nation is definitely very judgmental when it comes to change. Also, earlier this year we learned about how people (mostly men) were very disrespectful towards Sarah Palin because they saw her as too feminine. She was not looked at as a leader, she was looked at as a sexual object. If I could vote, I personally would vote for her because of her confidence and tactics, but I don't know if she would win the presidential election.
I do not believe that Sarah Palin should not have run for president this year, purely based on the fact that she actually did not. Her not running for president shows her level of commitment and responsibility that she can handle at this time in her life. It is sure that if she felt ready and excited enough to run, she should have.On the topic of if the calibur of candidate she would have become had she ran, I do not know much about politics. I can see what others have said about her relating to women and kids, but it should be about who has the best ideas, not the most popularity.
